>>All it would have taken is the energy and power of ONE individual to stop Hitler.

Your knowledge of history, at least of this period, seems a bit weak, Fred. Plenty of individuals tried to stop Hitler before the war actually began, but without success. True, a single assassin could have stopped him, but I don't think that was what you had in mind.>>

I'm not saying others didn't try, nor am I assigning blame for their ultimate failure.

It was "not meant to be." The question people like to ask is "what kind of God could allow this to happen?"

Try thinking of this from a different perspective. Far worse things could have happened if Hitler wasn't defeated. The world as we know it today could be far different - for the worse.

So assigning blame and labels of failure doesn't do justice to the faith, courage, risk and sacrifices that were made for us to live as we live today.

A strong argument could be made that mankind's progress in technology, communications, etc. would be nearly as advanced as it is today had it not been for this triumph over evil.

However delusional and crazy our world appears - with all the darkness, poverty and fear - there is always so much we should all be grateful for. Each of us has the power to overcome and transform the darkness/evil of NO into the light/energy and love of GO.

How?

Not by lining up in the volunteer line as if it's a job, but by personally reaching out and embracing risk to help others see the value of doing the same through simple examples which are acts faith.

I believe this is already happening all over the world. And we are all part of this transformation. This thread is part of it. Every little bit and bite that connects, communicates, cooperates and collaborates advances this cause.

Peace.

.

Even the men who had the drive to take assassination attempts beyond the "wishing and planning" stage - weren't there four distinct attempts? - didn't succeed. Will is not enough to make an assassin, or even competence. (von Staufenberg certainly was competent.) The element of luck plays greatly into it. Hitler lucked out on that July day.
