Eric, >Tony, your logic implies that one can judge a CPU by the length of its pipeline. Scumbria has made specific points to claim that Willy may not be well balanced. Intel is responding to that type of argument. Read the post previous to yours. They are saying they have addressed the long pipeline's effect on IPC by not one, but several different measures. They say that those measures, en total, make up for the problem. If they're right, P4 will be faster in performance than anything around now by the ratio of its clock speed to those existing CPUs' clock speeds. I'm going to wait for the benchmarks at this point. Too many gnats around here for anybody to try to swat. Tony
