Petz, Re: Extrapolating the power consumption for 1.3 GHz and 1.4 GHz Willys to 1.5 GHz gives an estimated power consumption of 71.4 watts.

This could become a serious issue for Intel at higher clock speeds. At 2,0 Ghz the P4 would consume up to 95(!) watts. I think the special cooling techniques for such high power consumption will be a major headache for OEMs. Just saw another picture of a P4 heat sink + fan at Tom's Hardware:

I don't think the OEMs (and customers) will like that.

Re: "At nominal voltage the 1.1 GHz TBird dissipates 55.1 watts of maximum thermal power, which is considerable below the 61.2 watts of even the 1.3 GHz P4."

SO - 6 watts is CONSIDERABLE, eh?

Re: ", the 1.1 GHz Athlon uses 55.1 watts maximum thermal power and the CuMine 1.13 GHz uses 35.5 watts max thermal power."

How do you describe the 20 Watt difference - in Intel's favor - merely considerable ?
