German Import Prices Rose More Than
Expected in July (Update1)
By Sonja Dieckhoefer

Wiesbaden, Germany, Aug. 25 (Bloomberg) -- The price of goods
imported into Germany rose in July for a third consecutive month as the
euro's 10 percent slide against the dollar this year increased the cost of
goods such as diesel and metals.

Prices rose 0.4 from June, twice the gain predicted by analysts, and
climbed 10.9 percent from July 1999, figures from the Federal Statistics
Office showed. Excluding oil products, the index rose 0.5 percent in the
month and 6.6 percent in the year.
