Yogi:

Like I told R.W. on the Palm thread, the only way to buy into COMS and get the benefit of the moves in PALM (up or down) as well as COMS is to buy the old series COMS options (THB.. etc), which still carry the PALM distribution. The value of these options, say for in the money calls, is being calculated (more or less) as (COMS + (1.484 x PALM) + cash in lieu of PALM fractional shares + time value).

There's a CBOE Bulletin that's been posted several times with the details and all the series presently available (calls, puts and leaps) for these options.

"any further benefits you would get..... Does anyone else know?"

I recall serious but vague talk last Spring that 3Com might announce another spin-off in the future. EB or the COO said it was possible but he/they would have no comment. Can't say what subsidiary it might involve, if it ever happens.
