Not sure those puts have been sold yet. There is still an open interest on Sept. 60 puts of 52,000 contracts

That has nothing to do with open interest. The open interest cannot decrease. The puts may or may not get circulated from now to expiration. That is why volume that day was about 62000, more than the open interest. The current holders probably have a long position on the common stock in conjunction with the puts if they are risk averse.

Open interest can only increase. Options are pretty complex to figure out a straight forward answer of what is really happening. The most we can do is take a reasonable guess.
