"Don't need to pass laws. Just apply the law equally to all."

You have never successfully made a case to show which law is not applied equally to homosexual couples and heterosexual married couples? Heterosexual married couples are entitled to the legal issues that are bound to a legal marriage. Other types of couples or entities have the same or comparable options but they are bound to other legal avenues. In order to give homosexual couples the things you claimed they are denied, there needs to be a legal precident that entitles them. I am not sure you have ever clearly made a case that they are actually denied anything that heterosexual married couples have a legal right to. But, you have made general statements that they are denied all kinds of things as a matter of discrimination. If you want to change the entitlements then you have to change the law.
