That's what makes old friends and family members irreplaceable. Meeting new people and getting to know each other can be fun and exciting, but it can never be the same as someone who travelled the same paths with you.

Last night I was invited by a couple at my church to a dinner party they were having for some of their close friends. Classy people all of them ... so much so that no one insisted on watching the last episode of Survivor. Just good music instead. Observing the pleasant interaction in the group, I was reminded of the importance of maintaining friendships. It's a little tougher for singles to do, I think, and I'm always having to nudge myself to work on that area.
