How so, Intel is sold out according to Dan Niles. Are they going to get "unsold out"? Q3 in the bag, Q4 probably an even better quarter, Niles says. Intel has Niles in their camp, AMD has Needham whoever. Like superstar and bush leaguer.

Hey, Hey now, don't be so hard on Dan, according to him, AMD is "shipping" lots of Athlons.....

To their warehouse.....

If they don't actually start "selling" some of that inventory pretty soon, the laws of supply and demand are going to kick in, and they're going to have to make "drastic" price cuts, to move all those stored up chips....

OOppps.... I forgot.....

:-)

P.S. - "Volume is our vaccine".... Isn't a vaccine what they use to cure an illness?

Re: How so, Intel is sold out according to Dan Niles

AMD was sold out in Q1 of 1999. Unfortunately, yields and binsplits were such that profits were... disappointing.

Intel will do much better than that, but Intel's burn rate is incredible, so "much better than AMD in Q1 of 1999" may not be sufficient.
