Deutsche Telekom selects Alcatel for voice and data switches BusinessWire, 08/25/2000 12:44 PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 2000--DeTeLine, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG (Germany), has selected Alcatel (NYSE:ALA) to supply future-oriented data and voice communications solutions. The agreement includes the Alcatel OmniSwitch and the Alcatel OmniPCX 4400, voice and data networking enterprise switches. Headquartered in Berlin, DeTeLine is a supplier of communication networks for companies of all sizes. Within the Deutsche Telekom group, DeTeLine engineers and implements LAN projects and network integration services. Deutsche Telekom will be a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Alcatel's Omni products. These products will be part of their Local and Wide Area Network solutions, called T-LAN. Deutsche Telekom is the biggest solution integrator in terms of voice, data and telecom services in Germany. With Alcatel as a partner in the voice and convergence market and DeTeLine as the "Local Area Network Company" of Deutsche Telekom, the partnership is ideally positioned to successfully market Alcatel's IP product range thanks to the experience and competency of both companies. Deutsche Telekom/DeTeLine designs flexible, future-proof and cost efficient networks for their customers. DeTeLine will use the Alcatel OmniSwitch for corporate data networks and for corporate communication. Alcatel will supply its communications server flagship, the Alcatel OmniPCX 4400, to provide integrated voice communication via Voice over IP (VoIP) as well as the Alcatel IP Reflexes(TM) phones. Alcatel receives first contract as part of this general agreement from DeTeLine for the Deutsche Post AG Deutsche Post is the world's international leader in postal services and logistics with a worldwide communications network. To develop this communication network, Deutsche Post works closely with Deutsche Telekom and their subsidiaries. The complete network for Deutsche Post AG will be designed by DeTeLine, which will implement the LAN high-speed network project. DeTeLine will consequently upgrade the company's nationwide data network with Alcatel products.
