Hi all; VIA to have 5 DDR chipsets out by the end of the year. Athlon support in late 3Q.

Well Carl, seems like Nintendo's Dolphin isn't using either RDRAM or DDR SDRAM, but instead jumping immediately to the next level, which is embedded DRAM. Good for Nintendo, if NEC can actually make those chips with high enough volumes and low enough costs.

So it seems like things are really shaping up to be a three-way battle in the game console market:

Sony Playstation 2 w/ RDRAM
Nintendo's GameCube w/ embedded DRAM
Microsoft's X-Box w/ DDR SDRAM

My money's on Sony, not because of technology, but because of mindshare and marketing.
