THE MOUSE ROARS: Disney presses its attack on the AOL-Time Warner deal.

Disney Vice Chairman Sanford Litvack meets with Federal Trade Commission officials. He argues that the pending megamerger would let AOL dominate the emerging market for interactive television in some major cities, and that it could extract revenue from transactions over rival Web sites carried on Time Warner's cable.

AOL has promised to provide "open access" to rivals, such as Disney, over its high-speed cable lines. But, to win approval of its merger, AOL is negotiating with regulators to define the terms of such access. The outcome will help shape the future of consumer access to the Internet.

Disney's Litvack was an antitrust chief in the Carter administration.
