You can't get excited about the telegraph becuase it isn't new and promising for you. BUt it apparently was VERY exciting for the late 1800s, judging by this quote in the Economist. Heck, smoke signals were probably exciting, and cave drawings. The internet is exciting for sure. But people are still people. And the nasty SOB next door is probably going to be a nasty SOB on line. We're exposed to a greater variety of thoughts, but that has been true with every new advance in technology. I wonder what will happen when we get virtual travel- where you and I can actually sit opposite each other and talk in some weird "fake" 3D way.
