Heinz, the U.S. Gini coeff. is still lower than it was in the 20s, however. Actually, 1932 was an all-time peak in the U.S. Gini coeff... as the LW group could tell you, 1933-1971 was a period of capital reflation. This is borne out by the fact that the Gini coeff. dropped over this same period. What is interesting, but not surprising, is the state-by-state Gini coefficients. The inequality is greatest, not surprisingly, in the Northeast, West, and South, and is least in the Rust Belt and Plains states...
