Pawa,

With the problems reported on the ORB and "approved list" coolers being few and far between, AMD has got to step up the shipment of boxed CPUs.

The coolers I got (no name brand) seem fine. I think the key is for the bottom area of the heatsink to be the same size as the Tbrd package, so that the cooler can rest on the plastic legs of the Tbird package.

Just a quick look at the Chrome cooler suggests that it is not the case with this cooler, and the cooler provides its own legs (only 2). It may be sufficient, since most of unbalanced pressure is applied parallel to the spring mechanism, but there is still room for side to side movement.

I just don't understand why the Golden Orb people keep on insisting on re-inventing the wheel. The legs AMD provides on the TBird seem to be a fool-proof solution.

If you are interested in the cooler I have, I bough it from tcwo.com It's still not on their web site.

Joe
