"Vod is pressing ahead on the NZ gw and
accelerating the deployment of west African gw"

Do you know if the "W. African GW" means Senegal, or something else? Senegal and nearby Ivory Coast are in TeSAM's territory, and the former was supposed to have a GW (which could cover IC and a number of other countries as well, of course)

According to an ancient G* "Backgrounder" something called Globaltouch Holdings had rights to most of the rest of W. Africa, including Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Chad. If Vod is investing in a GW in this region, it's very significant news, imo.
