Market Update

Morning Update: Fri., Aug. 25, 2000
By: Kevin O'Grady
The market is trading mixed and it looks like it will be
another slow day. Despite the lower opening though, it
has begun to creep higher again. Investors who are not
on vacation right now are positioning themselves for a
post-Labor Day rally. If the rally pans the way it is
supposed to, then investors only have about another
week to prepare themselves. However, it is feasible that
the volume could come back and jump-start the rally
early. There is a lot of mutual fund money that came in
over the last six months that has been waiting for a
bottom to be put to work. Given the bullishness of
investors the past few weeks it looks like that money is
finally going to come out of the money market accounts
next month. But, remember that institutional investors
tend to do most of their trades the last and first few days
of each month. So we could see the market start to
build up some momentum late next week.
