AOL is a future customer of ATHM. Why? How else will they roll out their content nationwide over BB?

Good point.

I don't think that AOL is in any hurry to form an alliance with @Home, though. AOL will instead try to keep as many narrowband from migrating to broadband and try to steer those that do migrate to "their" DSL or RR.

I agree that if all goes as planned with @Home, AOL will eventually roll over @Home's lines with some sort of distribution agreement. But to get to the point where AOL has no choice but to go to @Home, @Home has to get its sub base to critical mass. Then it has leverage with AOL. Once AOL is readily available through @Home's pipes, @Home's subs will go through the roof.

But that's a long way off. AOL and @Home still disagree on how to divvy up e-commerce, which generates huge chunks of change for AOL.
