Bid.Com realizes $23 million gain from sale of Quack.com interests
Bid.Com receives $24 million worth of America Online shares
TORONTO, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ - Bid.Com International Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDS, TSE: BII), a global application provider of dynamic pricing solutions, today announced it will realize a significant investment gain as a result of America Online's acquisition of Quack.com. Bid.Com will receive America Online Inc. Common Stock with an approximate current value of $24 million (CDN) in exchange for its equity position in Quack.Com, a $23 million (CDN) gain over its initial investment of $1 million (CDN).

``Today's announcement is an important milestone for Bid.Com,'' said Jeff Lymburner, President and CEO of Bid.Com International Inc. ``Not only will this substantial gain significantly enhance our long-term cash position without any dilution to shareholders, it will permit us to accelerate our global e- commerce activities.

``Bid.Com was among the first partners of Quack.Com because we saw the strength of its voice recognition technology in extending Internet functionality and e-commerce activities to mobile users,'' Mr. Lymburner added.

``Our recent launch of new dynamic pricing services featured wireless and voice recognition applications. We expect to continue our efforts towards the further development of these applications,'' Mr. Lymburner also said.
