the converse is also true--RMBS is also making a 'bet the company' decision. The only difference is that RMBS has no choice.

No matter what happens with the SDRAM and DDR claims, Rambus has RDRAM and it's successors to earn royalties from. Until early this year when the SDRAM and DDR claims came to the fore, this was all any Rambus stockholder was aware of. So even though it's a very, very big deal, it is not a bet-the-company move for Rambus as it would be for a Micron, to name a very good example of one, as it would be if they lost a lawsuit to Rambus and did NOT get SDRAM or DDR licenses.

It takes real leadership to step up and tell the world that you are right and they are wrong. Sucessful leaders change paradigms.

I believe that that is what is going on here.
