Fund,

Almost all seasoned traders have learned, with expensive tuition, to develop a set of money management rules tailored to their trading style.

Once they are in place; two things are the big killers.

1) Huge gaps. As you discussed; if these are a problem, your money management and maximum position discipline needs to be re-adjusted.

2) Emotion. Not willing to take a loss because of pride. Fear of a move which doesn't meet a threshold or greed about a big win which eliminates your taking the necessary stop-loss protections or taking bad entries that don't meet your strict criteria.

All IMO.

Regards,

Dave

Speaking of KREM

... If it breaks resistance at 80 I will hit my predefined exit points and take the loss (though I'll be back in February to make it all back when the lockup ends in April!)...

According to ipolockup.com, the shares will be "unlocked" in October. Are you implying that mgt has pulled an NTKK, i.e., extending the lock up period ?[http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/000822/va_net2000.html]
I haven't seen a PR from KREM to that effect. Where did you get the April date from?

Disclosure: *no* position at this time - it seems as though someone didn't order enough donuts for everyone in the class!

Excellent Fundy, Eggsellent!

Dude like you make this SI worth reading.

It's been a while since I printed any postings on SI.
But your posting was worth reading few more times to digest.
(I remember printing few of Tom's postings last year)

Now I don't short more than 1% of my portfolio.
But when I thought I was a big honcho shorter, I would take 10 to 20% of entire portfolio on initial short!
Since reducing the size, seems like I'm having more winners and the bigger benefit is that I can sleep sound at night.<g>

congratulations on KREM

Well thanks for the 'congratulation', but unfortunately I do not own any KREM shares. (Sold 'em all on last month KREM run. Hoped to get back in at low 50s but never happened.)

Got involved in KREM when some shorties bashed KREM without reasonable basis. I was really pissed at few of those childish shroters.
Certainly don't think KREM is a crap nor turd.
Few of those bad apples paint all the other shorters as darkside mobs...

Anyway, good luck with your KREM short.
