Is the biggest problem with losing the Chief Scientist not so much is losing him, but possibly losing a number of other engineers when he gets a team together to develop a start-up optical firm? Did anyone ever identify the Ciena customer who is having financial difficulty? As I was reading some related news, I thought it might be GST Telecommunications. In 1999, GST Telecommunications indicated they were a Ciena customer. GST filed for bankruptcy in May and recently agreed to be bought out by Time Warner Telecom.
