Charles - Win2K made a number of changes to the way that drivers are designed, which improve stability and reduce the driver's ability to crash the system, leak memory, or tie up I/O resources. Drivers which were already "well behaved" often work, others do not. If you use an "unsigned" driver - one which has not been tested as compliant to the new standards - you get a warning message and you're on your own if it blows up.
