Don't hold your breath. Back in the Eighties a Venture group planned to run a bullet train from LA to Las Vegas. The projected cost at the time was $1 billion. Plans were moving ahead until the EPA stepped in and wanted an extensive study done on how it would affect desert toads or some such nonsense. The study and delay would have shot the price tag to three or more times the original completion cost.

That idea died real fast.
