Good question, Phil. I don't really know. These events are too rare to warrant insurance, I suppose. But, a portfolio is the only asset I know of that is uninsured. I only hope that such events as the phony PR remain rare enough to keep it that way. Anyway, apologies to the thread for the OT.

I read this thread with interest, although I am not a daytrader and don't have a desire for it. Much of the discussion is a bit too esoteric for me, but since I am a long-term investor, I am interested in what affects the price of stocks I own. And, being long-term, I don't have well developed exit strategies yet. I believe that success at anything involves learning its underlying principles. The contributors to this thread seem knowledgeable and/or raise intriguing issues that any shareholder should want to know, whether short or long term.
