One of the things that Clinton supporters have difficulty in grasping is that many of us would have been less hard on Clinton had he shown any sense of shame. He was willing to destroy Monica and let Betty Curry be driven into bankruptcy to save his own hide. He not only didn't resign, he was defiant of the special counsel, and his attempts at contrition were brittle, calculated, and instantly followed by attacks on his opponents. Similarly, the discussions of Clinton would not get so hostile if his defenders were not willing to say practically anything.......
