ClearWorks Fiber Network Goes Live; Metropolitan Area Fiber Network Speeds Delivery of Bundled Digital Services

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 2000--ClearWorks.net (AMEX:CLW) announced today that its metropolitan area fiber network went live and began delivering services to new residential subdivisions. The fiber network was built to reduce the cost of building multiple head end facilities and deliver Bundled Digital Services (BDS) to communities under contract. Subscribers in the communities of Rock Creek and Stonegate will be the first to be added to ClearWorks system beginning immediately. The fiber network will allow the connection of 5,500 subscribers under contract in BDS communities and provide for access to other communities in the area.

ClearWorks.net is one of the leading providers of Fiber To The Home (FTTH), often referred to as "the last mile" solution, for neighborhoods and businesses utilizing the company's Bundled Digital Services (BDS) which includes high speed Internet connectivity, dial-tone, digital multi-channel video, on-demand video rental, a community Intranet and other digital services.

Brain Mickelson, president of ClearWorks Communications, stated, "Adding subscribers is our main focus and our fiber network will increase the speed at which we can do so. We are currently adding subscribers in Rock Creek and Stonegate, two of our BDS communities and we anticipate beginning to add subscribers in several other communities over the next 30 days. Now that we have the physical facilities complete, we can quickly address the backlog of communities that are waiting our service."

The Stone Gate community is a master planned community which has incorporated technology as a part of its master planned development. The "Intelligent Community Powered by IBM" represents a state-of-the-art community which incorporates the integration of Home Director and structured wiring technology into all homes.

The prestigious Rock Creek community, northwest of Houston, Texas, represents 400 single-family homes. The community represents the company's first project working within a custom home community and the company's first project with the Caldwell/Watson developers. Rock Creek is located between Cypress, Texas, and Tomball, Texas, 10 minutes from corporate headquarters for Compaq Computer Corporation.

In recent news, the company announced that it has signed a letter of intent with Eagle Wireless International Inc. (AMEX:EAG) to merge the two companies under the Eagle corporate structure as soon as SEC, American Stock Exchange and stockholder approvals can be acquired. Dr. H. Dean Cubley, president and CEO of Eagle Wireless, and Michael McClere, CEO of ClearWorks.net, stated, "The combination of Eagle Wireless and ClearWorks.net will create one of the most advanced broadband telecommunications companies in existence with an unprecedented opportunity to quickly capture market share in key markets both domestically and internationally."

Good afternoon Clappy.

Just caught up with your post after spending a relaxing mornin' in my garden doin' some chores. I'm headin' East next week for a little getaway with my wife to see the USOpen tennis tournament. That means I won't have my finger on market moves, which always makes life interesting. Fortunately I won't have limit orders o/s while I'm on vacation (ouch!).

Speakin' of keepin' up with the action, you wrote:

The other day Gilder added WFII to his list. I expected them to rocket upwards like many of them do.

I'm a subscriber to Gilder Tech's newsletter. But, I get the impression that his picks and upcoming "Add to listings" have been leaked out days before, because I have found it difficult to make any quick trades on his advice. Using Motorola as an example in the spring, I hopped on to some calls hoping for the ride and almost got burned pretty good by some bad karma that same day. Managed to get out only down $1,000.

Which after hours broker do you feel most comfortable making some of these quick kills, IF you don't mind me asking? I was tempted to do the same with that announcement on stem cells. I'm always interested in trying investigate a little momentum play here and there. It appears that you would rather buy shares of the underlying stock rather than buy calls in a bigger cap stock based on your comment:

I've simply been looking for news that comes out after 4:00 PM for a stock that has a small price tag and small float.

I did buy 1000 shares of Globalstar (at $9) after reading some recent posts about FUD and negativity assoicated with Iridium's demise. I think is opportunity for an upswing in that stock.

Anyway, I'd like to get a few trades under my belt so I can make a few more bucks to invest in RMBS and perhaps SCMR. Micron Tech is in my backyard. I haven't felt comfortable investing in commodity semi mfg. in the past. I really like the RMBS story that you and others have discussed on this and the G&K thread.

Here's to continued momentum on the Naz and all the G&K stocks.
