depends on what you mean by "active".

if instant execution and reporting are important, and you want to hit the bid or ask immediately, PCM's windows app (and it's variants like PT) is fast and reliable (just don't expect a lot of service/support from them). their big drawback (to me) is that they don't provide the collateral protection needed if you write naked options a lot. if all you do is buy or your spreads are not in large size, then PCM is probably just fine.

I've heard a lot of good things about edreyfus, but their website says you have to call in naked (and spread) orders... and that's a hassle IMO.

I use BrownCo, but mainly because Schwab's option ordering system seems to be in the dark ages... they sometimes don't have all option series entered into their system, and that's an even bigger hassle. altho I would get price improvement at Schwab and I never have (w/ options) at BrownCo.

commission costs are not one of my top priorities for choosing a broker. I haven't looked at ML or Wingspan (aren't they a bank? :).
