>>Doesn’t standard press release protocol, always indicate a mutual agreement to separate.
Even when a company officer has to be escorted out the door by company security isn’t
it normal to say “Joe has left to pursue other interests. We wish him well.”<<

True, but in a case where it is not amicable, while the company press release might "whitewash" it, the more "objective" journalists (I only put that in parentheses as I don't believe journalists really are, but that is a topic for another day...<g>) may not. And so far we have not seen anything negative. But your point is well taken, and we should look for other sources of news of this departure and see if the portrayal is any different than that of the article in Lightreading.

>>Wait until he tries to set up a competitive start-up or steal Ciena’s engineers. We’ll see
sparks fly.

Of course, I hope he establishes only synergistic optical products that Ciena would
work with and possibly acquire.<<

Yes it will interesting to see what happens. On the one hand there is the precedent of Huber, who has set up a competing firm, but on the other hand there is the precedent of another founding member of Ciena who left, and ended up coming back to Ciena for a while through the Omnia acquisition....(And then once again leaving for a FO components startup in Texas-I don't remember his name, but I could probably look it up if you are interested....)
