Scumbria,

Maybe he is trying to push DRDRAM?

Here's a clip from an EBN article in January. Sounds like he's made quite a conversion.

Samsung exec joins Rambus as DRAM battle lines are drawn.

Maybe Samsung employees have made many ridiculous statements concerning DRDRAM, not the least of which was that ridiculous page hit explanation we discussed last week?

That was Toshiba, not Samsung.

I spent a few years helping pioneer the low cost PC industry, and I'm quite certain that this marketplace can only support the lowest cost components.

I agree with you. Again, maybe he knows something you don't. Maybe he didn't mention DDR for a reason.

Re: "I'm quite certain that this marketplace can only support the lowest cost components."

It may well be that RDRAM is the lowest cost memory for Timna in that kind of configuration. Certainly, Sony found it to be the preferred memory for its low cost PS-II.

Timna has a built in RDRAM controller and Rdram can be soldered directly into the board eliminating the cost of connectors and sockets. Only a few components are required to make a very competent PC appliance.
