Every credit card or membership I have -- professional, or cycling, or Web-related -- seems to be tied to something like a long distance calling plan, a car rental discount, a frequent flyer miles program, a frequent moviegoer club, a frequent doo-dad purchase association, or something. It all just confuses the hell out of me. Since I've dropped out of this whole marketing system, I guess my life is costing me about 17 percent more than it should. But since I smoked a lot for 25 years, maybe my life will be 17 percent shorter and it will all even out in the end. End of rant Hey, you don't have to be confused! I just realized that California Journal, Episode Deux, could be split into two episodes to enhance and multiply your experience. And, btw, I have sent to Paris an electronic request for assistance on the meaning of hèrèmiste so that we can all better enjoy that entry from Le Petit Dico illustré des Avocats. I am suspecting more and more that this is a very rude word, so I may not have directed my request to the most appropriate person. That may be a story in itself. C'est la vie!
