The Manet is currently in the Musee D'Orsay. It was on loan the first time I saw it in New York, for a very extensive show at the Metropolitan Museum called "The Origins of Impressionism", one of those interesting shows where the curators kind of lose perspective and demand too much of the public. It was 13 large galleries, with too few masterpieces, because it was meant to illustrate several theses. But the Manet was a stand out.

I am glad that we can discuss things peaceably and with good humor, and I will be interested in your comments on the Paris observations........
