Hello All and Gene .... I have a

question concerning reading the tape and accumulation/distribution. [I just discovered this wonderful board a few days ago and will try to read up on the previous messages before asking other questions :) ].

(1) When I look at time and sales, how can I tell whether a trader has bought or sold shares?

** Is it safe to assume that if the trade took place at ASK it was a BUY; if it took place at BID, it was a SELL?

(2). After a downtick (uptick), one frequently sees a string of trades taking place at the new BID (new ASK) .... is it safe to assume that these are all SELLS (all BUYS) ?

(3). I sometimes see relatively HUGE trades go off BETWEEN BID and ASK, and sometimes even below BID. How does one interpret these?

[I know that there are all kinds of broker-dealers getting in on the action with large trades, but I don't know how to interpret this kind of price action between BID and ASK or below BID, or rarely, above ASK].

(4). How does one look at this and decide on accumulation or distribution? I understand that there are many ways to do it .... but if someone has actually done something like this, or has an idea, I would much appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,

Joseph
