Good points. I suppose the "hook" in selling (whether puts or calls) is that you get money at the time instead of giving any. But even with cov calls, many is the time I've sold only to see in the next few weeks that I should have bought.
So, I'm reevaluating whether I want to do any options other than leaps on companies I already own or want to own. I don't know yet what I will decide.
