TEXAS MONTHLY OIL AND GAS STATISTICS JULY PERMITS TO DRILL The Commission issued a total of 997 original drilling permits in July compared to 689 in July 1999. Total drilling permits for 2000 year to date is 6,622, up from 4,218 recorded during the same period in 1999. The July total included 773 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 34 to re-enter existing well bores, and 190 for re-completions. Permits issued in July included 306 oil, 232 gas, 391oil and gas, 64 injection and 4 other permits. JULY OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS In July, operators reported 287 oil, 355 gas, 12 injection and two other completions, compared to 156 oil, 286 gas, 13 injection and two other completions during the same month of last year. Total well completions for 2000 year to date is 4,579, up from 3,259 recorded during the same period in 1999. Operators reported 256 holes plugged and 42 dry holes in July compared to 408 plugged and 53 dry holes during the same period last year. MAY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION Texas preliminary May 2000 crude oil production averaged 1,075,244 barrels daily, down from the 1,079,910 barrels daily average of May 1999. The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for May 2000 is 33,332,560 barrels, a decrease from 33,477,219 barrels reported during May 1999. MAY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION Texas oil and gas wells produced 456,157,851 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for May 2000, down from the May 1999 preliminary gas production total of 444,748,684 Mcf. Texas production in May came from 147,057 oil and 54,145 gas wells. hdr
