I would expect the original author of "Megahertz sells" (™ Jim McNannis) to disagree with this. <g>

On another hand...as an Intel investor I'm shocked you don't appear to realize how they have kept the competition at bay over the years...by providing a moving target...increasing speed...

For a long time, increasing speed was important. Applications ran noticeably better for the average user on a p120 vs a 486. But now, you need complicated machinery to detect the difference between a 1 gig anything and an 850 anything.
Don't get me wrong; I am not saying that speed does not matter, I am just saying that at this point, speed has gotten way ahead of where it needs to be. Some day, it will be important again.
