David,

I don't think there is any specific number released from Palm. We have heard rumors of it being around $20.

I did do some calculation based on Palm's last year's number of 1% revenue in royalty, and Hand's S1 filing in revenue for last year.

I don't have the exact numbers with me. Based on the assumptions of $200 revenue for every Visor Hand sold, and that Hand contributed to 90% of Palm's royalty. I came up with a number between $18 to $19, which is fairly close to the $20 number rumored.

Two years ago, I was working in a company that was about to license CE. My understanding was that CE was somewhere in the mid to high twenties. Of course that had all the baby Exel and Word in there. Don't quote me on this number for CE. I don't really remember how I heard it and how true this was.

Knowing the reality today, CE has cut its price by 50%. My guess is that it's significantly lower priced than Palm. Maybe this should be one big advantage people need to give to Microsoft, but CE's system requirement is screamingly high as well.
