6 months from the 3/2/00 IPO was the number in my head. Then I counted this out and arrived at roughly the end of August, not July. So I went back and checked the last S-1/A dated 2/29/00 (p.81):

"Palm, 3Com and Palm's directors and officers have agreed with the
Underwriters not to dispose of or hedge any of their common stock or securities
convertible into or exchangeable for shares of common stock during the period
from the date of this prospectus continuing through the date 180 days after the
date of this prospectus, except with the prior written consent of the
representatives. This agreement does not apply to any grants under Palm's
existing employee benefit plans. See "Shares Eligible For Future Sale" for a
discussion of transfer restrictions. America Online, Motorola and Nokia have
agreed with Palm, for the benefit of the Underwriters, not to dispose of or
hedge any of their common stock during the period from the date of the
consummation of this offering continuing through the date 180 days after the
date of this prospectus."

180 days from the IPO is August 29, not July 27. You were right in that I was wrong to give the date as 7/27/00, but it's 180 days not 12 months. AOL/NOK/MOT have 5.92 million shares total, officers/directors of PALM/COMS have 6% max of the IPO (26.45 million) or 1.58 million shares max.

FWIW, these 7.5 million shares all come out of the lockup agreement on Monday (officers 1.58 million) and Tuesday (AOL/NOK/MOY 5.92 million). Still insignificant IMO, but it's not zero.

My apologies to all (and to Michael F. who in fact had a minor point) for the error.

David T.

I was sure I'd posted the 6 month/180 day lockup period for the AOL/MOT/NOK/officer shares before. In fact, it was just a couple of weeks ago:

I'm surprised that one of you sharp eyed people didn't pick up my error then - 6 months from the IPO is the end of August, not July!
