Mr. X just captured the essence of investing - ride the horse til it drops - sell it for dog food and get another horse. This works really well as long as there are horses.

No offense intended, but I cannot imagine investing in a company without at least knowing what they do. It is difficult enough to successfully make money by investing in companies where you do understand their products and business plan. To do less than that, even with the guidance and tutelage of George Gilder, seems foolish. Personally, I do not pretend to understand what QUALCOMM does, for instance, at a technical level. (I was an English major way-back-when!) However, I do understand that their products allow Verizon and other service providers to have several times as many subscribers in the same amount of bandwidth as the competition. I understand that today QUALCOMM can shove a whole lot more bits and bytes down a 1.25mhz HDR CDMA data path than GSM ever will. I understand that licensing QUALCOMM's CDMA costs manufacturers about a third what it would cost them to license GSM. All of these are significant competitive advantages for QUALCOMM as we move forward into the WorldWide Wireless Web. (Are wireless web address going to be http://wwww. . . . ?) I can make a similar case for every stock I own.
