If you walk into their restaurants, you'll notice that they are not the type of joint that will go under - particularly it is packed on Friday afternoons and the weekends. But they have to please Wall Street's insatiable demand for profit and revenue growth. A little slack will batter the stock - APPB and STAR, IMHO are worth buying/owning now!

I like the whole casual dining sector. It has powerful demographic and economic trends driving it forward.

APPB is the largest chain store in the country in the casual dining sector and is not a "one-trick pony" like some of the more faddish restaurants.

The problem with APPB has been that same-store sales growth has been disappointing especially compared with Dardens and Brinker. It may just be a glitch and could easily be remedied by the new menu items being rolled out.

It has provided the investor a nice buying opportunity however, as APPB is the cheapest in their group. I haven't bought any the last few weeks, but will on further weakness.
