1.) Where does Brocade stand in the FC vs. whatever Debate?

My limited knowledge of BRCD includes the fact that they are in cahoots with CSCO to develop an I/F between BRCD FC switches and CSCO routers so that FC can hop across TCP/IP networks.

BRCD is part of the DAFS consortium to define standards for Direct Access File Systems.

BRCD has been in alliance with NTAP for a couple of years, but the project, if it still exists, is closely held.

2.) Where does NTAP fit in, in this arena?

NTAP already uses FC-AL (Fibre Channel Arbitration Loop) to connect the filer(s) to disk arrays.

NTAP seems to be determined to become media agnostic, supporting ethernet, FC, and InfiniBand with Virtual Interface (VI).

3.) Where does CSCO stand or is it ready to pounce no matter what the standard becomes?

I don't CSCO intends to set the standard. I think they are trying to play all sides of the street until the winner becomes apparent, but that's just a guess. I suspect that CSCO strategists and NTAP strategists are talking, even if its informally.

Good questions.
