The Boy Scouts haven't changed. The country has.

Perhaps the new leadership of the Scouts is taking this great organization in the wrong direction.

I have never been homophobic. I have had a number of gay friends, and was even cool when some of them hit on me. I started with the premise that gays couldn't help themselves, and that it was innocuous. Over time, I decided that there was something wrong with homosexuality. I had acquaintances who tried to seduce young men, and many who were egregiously promiscuous. A lot of them fit the profile of Oedipally complicated relationships with their mothers. Some had been interested in the opposite sex, but "decided" they were gay after a bad breakup. In general, although I remained tolerant, I decided that I could not place homosexuality on the same footing as heterosexuality.

By the way, the one major genetic study was deeply flawed, and, at best, showed a 50% genetic determination.

I will not argue over whether their ban is good or bad. I will merely say that I regard it as their call.......
