<<Now, I like them both; and don't like India.>>

III liked the Corbet stories on shooting leopards and tigers that were man killers. Liked. I'm leaning toward the cats now though.

Back in the 60s I worked in my dad's clothing store. There was a type of plaid that was very popular called the Madras plaid. The colors bled, shirt changed colors every washing as did your undies. Was real popular for a month. Non bleeding came soon after. Are you stil wearing your Nehru jacket?

This is going to be a super cop-out kind of post....

You know... the kind where you get home feeling weary, read through a mess of DAR posts... would like to comment on this one or that one... but your arms feel like they are falling off... so you don't bother to go back and reply to each one individually...

...well... I'm sure these comments will be self-explanatory....

~~~~~~
Uhm.... Turms of endearment....
Around here, favourite turms would include a cauliflower, peas and spinach number which is made with turmeric and cumin seared in ghee and has yogurt added into it...
...and the other favourite turm has turmeric, onions and garlic in ghee with brown lentils and basmati cooked in it.... and then fresh green onions chopped up and added at the end....
Gee.... I'm making myself verrry hungry thinking about turms... but you're right... turms stain... will totally wreck your t-shirt if it gets on it when you're in the middle of cooking up something... and yeah, I have PROOF of that claim...yessir...
~~~~~~

Next... uhm... PAISLEY...
what a coincidence... second one today actually...but I'm too tired to explain the first one...

Anyhow, let's see... according to an article on textiles that I JUST HAPPENED TO BE READING LAST NIGHT, it got that name from Paisley, Scotland, where it was produced as a cheaper imitation of the the Real McCoy paisley which was imported from India (Kashmir, I believe) after it caught on pretty big with the masses in England and France during the 19th century.

Okay... comment 3.... regarding teen suicides, etc...

I don't know much about the main causes these days, but back when I was growing up in the late 60s-early 70s, I lost a couple of my closest friends to suicide... both were young gay men who could not find a place to fit into society at that time and who received little or no support (and in fact, in both cases, outright rejection) from their families. I am still made very sad by both of these losses whenever they come to mind as these were bright, witty, creative friends....

I am hoping (and do believe) that society has changed enough in 30 years, that at least one or two of the former reasons for teen suicide are diminishing...
