I do believe in the future of technology, but I also believe in volatility and I know from experience one can profit from it.

However, given the tax consequences of short term trading vs. long-term buy and hold, and the incredible difficulty of correctly predicting TWICE (the low and the high), what difference does showing the retrospective volitility make?

Monday morning quarterbacking is a dangerous thing in stock trading. Being able to predict the future price moves with any accuracy has been found unreliable by the greatest economic minds. Do you feel that you can CONSISTENTLY profit from short term moves to a greater extent than the buy and hold investor?

For example, in buying and holding, I'm up 740% in NTAP, 550% in VTSS, and almost 700% in INTC. These are very volitile stocks, but I'd hesitate to try to time them and be able to beat these numbers (and beat them by enough to offset the tax consequences).
