...There are multiple ways that MSD can arrange to have his DELL holdings managed in a way which does not expose them to Uncle Sam...

not to be argumentative; but, name them. i've engaged in multiple classes on this subject, and frankly the "multiple means" to escape the tax that are available are utilized only to decrease it - but only decrease it by, at most 10% to 20%. you seem to be missing my point. if you want to know more on the subject I suggest you take this up with Stephen Leimberg, JD, BrynMawr College in Philly who is considered the nation's foremost authority on the issue.

the "billions" you claim the Dell family already owns is also subject to the 55% estate tax. nothing escapes the tax; not even Imeleda's shoes in her closet.

OF COURSE the majority of the selling is for planning purposes; the extent to which that planning takes is not known by me. call Susan. Estate tax planning was only ONE area I mentioned; you seem to have gotten the impression it was the only reason for the selling. what is interesting is not only the level of communication MDell has chosen to communicate this to shareholders, but also the deliberate level of miscommunication by shareholders who should know better.

more importantly, i'm hearing that sales for August were much better than expected.
