Joe, <Even after AMD's 2nd fab is in full production,
AMD will able to take only a fraction of the market, leaving Intel with majority of the
market.>
This recall is the latest of long string of missteps. Drew Peck from SG Cowen on CNBC today said they are trying to force old technology to go faster and they need new architecture. Until they have new architecture similar problems will occur. It will be interesting to see how the analysts react to this and change earning estimates for upcoming quarters. The large market share may not mean much if they are pushing the limits of old technology. I'm not an engineer and can't speak about the specific old technology but who knows what to believe at this point.
