Re 3G auctions: I heard they just spent a collective $45B on licenses for Germany alone? (Maybe that was Fleck) That's nearly $1,000 for every man, woman, and child in the country! You rid the debt markets of one insatiable debtor (US Government) and the vacuum is immediately occupied by an even more voracious, higher risk debtor - the wireless industry. The riot is that, in the intervening two years that it will take these companies to roll out the service, the global economy will have peaked and be rolling over. They're going to introduce these toys in the middle of the worst recession since the 1970s! BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHA... BC
