Hitachi makes the Rambus memory for the Playstation II.

Rambus threatened to go to US customs to have shipments of the PS-II blocked into the US if Hitachi would not agree to license SDRAM and DDR

Hitachi was stuck between a rock and a hardplace. As were the two other companies that settled.

This is the first "real" test.

I know the patents are bogus. IBM has been shipping product since the 1980's that violate patents Rambus filed in the 1990's.

Rambus is desperate. DRDRAM has been rejected by the industry, so these patents are all they have left. They will likely fight it to the bitter end.

I think I'm going to open up a LARGE straddle position right at the open. My gut tells me most won't want to stick around to see what happens. You never know. It's going to move. A straddle is likely as close to free money as you can get.
