I'm surprised you haven't heard of the Always Law? It goes something like this. If you always play spec mining stocks from the long side you will always loose, eventually. I believe that the game is somewhat rigged and the flow of information from a drill program is usually a problem. It seems that the Delay Theorem usually applies as the value of the news is inversely proportionate to the time delay.

Good drill results have a half life of less than 1/2 an hour and are directly responsible for the Big Bang in volume as the network loads according to the inverse square of the grade.

Bad drill results can cause momentary shifts in the Investing Universe which can delay sunlight to the Hopeful's Room for many weeks. Accordingly, Darkness is accompanied by these delays.
