I don't think it's "visual" tracking either way. It is possible to use cellular technology for location by signal triangulation. In fact, in the near future, cell phones will provide location data for 911 calls - and perhaps for other services as well (traffic reports, local weather, "nearest McDonald's", etc.)

More food for thought. This is already happening. My Palm VII uses that type of triangulation to determine its location. I can pull up "My Weather" and it gives me weather for the reporting station closest to me. There is the option of turning this feature off for those paranoid of "Big Brother" knowing their location, but I like it!
